"The Journey Begins"
This was inspired by a challenge that was recently held and by my friend Maria R. Who recycles everything that comes her way. She doesn't know it yet, but she's opened my eyes to alot of things. I guess if she's reading this, she now knows. ; ) Love ya buddy of mine.
Ok, back to The Journey Begins.
I began with a piece of Tim's Glassine Paper, I gave it a wrinkle here and there. Wasn't quite sure where I was going to go with it yet. The Jalopy is a favorite of mine and most of you know that the Umbrella Man is "my man". With that said, (Tim's fave line) my man needed his ride. The Jalopy and the Umbrella Man were both cut out of Tim's plastic packaging. With the Jalopy I used Alcohol Inks. On the tires I used Ranger's Black Enamel. The rims on the tire were actually staples from Tim's Tiny Attacher with a brad through the center. Pretty cool huh? (another Tim fave line)
The Tiny Attacher staples were used for the grill of the Jalopy. The metal trimming around the car was made out of Metallic Tape can be purchased at Lowes or Home Depot. My other buddy Donna sneaked away with her dad's tape. ; ) She was so kind to share some with the rest of our circle of friends as we spent a fun weekend in Lancaster, PA at the Cozy Crop House. I have a great bunch of gal pals and I love them all. You know who you are.
I used the Tiny Attacher to show where the door seam was. I almost forgot to mention that I used Tim's Riveted Metal Texture Fade. I strategically placed it where I wanted on the car. To highlight the rivets I used one of my many gelly pens (silver) and it really looks alot better in person. Pictures, as always, don't do it justice.
You can see the grill and the spokes on the tire where I used Tim's Tiny Attacher.
The metallic tape was also used on the windows of the Jalopy.

Here I used Tim's Punch tool and cut off half of his large Sprocket Gears. You can see the embossed Rivets.
My man is always in the rain for some reason... Although you can't see it on his face, his body language tells me he is melancholy. He was also made out of Tim's plastic packaging. I used the Tiny Attacher and colored the staples black with my black copic pen to represent the hard rain that was coming down. I also used the hot glue gun on the tips of the umbrella (as it cooled). I then used some Goosebumps by ImagineCrafts.com. I was fascinated with this clear textured spray. It's actually glossy accents in a spray. I kid you not. I tell everyone about this great product. It's one of my new big time favorites. Thanks to Ted Cutts for introducing it to me when I met up with him in Rhinebeck, NY. in 2011. I covered the areas that I didn't want sprayed, then went to town on it. I did use glossy accent by the feet area to show that there was a puddle around "my man". I can't help being so detailed, does that make me OCD?
Here you can see some of the Goosebumps (still wet). I then took several ripped pieces of the Glassine Paper, twirled it and glued it down.
The City Scene is from Tim's Stampers Anonymous stamps who is one of several lines of stamps owned by none other than Mr. Ted Cutts, aka Tim's Dad. With that said, I want to just mention Mario because, I want to. Hi Mario!!! xoxo

ReplyDeleteIvette this is another masterpiece...
ReplyDeleteIt is true: we can feeling (even through the web) the melancoly of your man with the umbrella!
You know: I love your way of creating and your use of metal that is the element that gives "reality" to all your projects.
A huge hug!
All the best
Manu
Really wonderful. Love all of the details. Your creativity is truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou are truly an artist by every definition. This new entry “Time for a getaway” is incredible and to think this was created from several recycled pieces mind-blowing.

ReplyDeleteAmazing is all I can say! I watched this creation in the making as you were taking plastic from my garbage bag at our weekend crop at the Cozy Crop House. Your artistic eye allows you to see art in everything you touch (while I see plastic, staples and silver tape...LOL!).
ReplyDeleteTo all the followers out there, this piece is absolutley amazing when you see it in person. I am one of the lucky ones to know Ivette personally and to be able to learn from her every day, but we can all learn her techniques thanks to her sharing her projects with us on this blog.
Thank you Ivette for sharing!
This piece is amazing Ivette! I can say that because I watched it take shape from the items you took from my garbage bag at our Cozy Crop House weekend...LOL! Your artistic eye allowed you to take what most of us see as plastic, staples and tin foil and create this amazing piece. I have learned so much from you already, and now, thanks to you and Maria, I am picking through my garbage for treasures!
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs...
Donna

ReplyDeleteIvette, this is such a wonderful piece of art. What you do and see in items that we look at daily, and differently is amazing. I am starting to see the art that you do but you are way too "infinity and beyond" for me. Thank you so much for sharing your art and allowing me to display your master pieces in my store. There has not been one person that comes in the store that does not oooohhhhhsss and aaaahhhhhhsss over your work. You have been a wonderful friend and an inspiration as well as someone who has been pushing me from the beginning. May the spark never die and may you always be my friend.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Ivy!?!?!? OMG... this is another incredible creation of yours! I can't get over how amazingly cool the car is... down to the spare tire on the side! And the grille from tiny attacher staples is just the icing on the cake. It's total eye candy, hon!
