BRITNI CANVAS - FINNABAIR CLASS

My little girl....

She had the most white of all the puppies.  She came
to me at a police department locker room where I worked.
A co-worker who's dog had pups and they needed homes.
She was so precious and she came to me just a
few weeks after my mom had passed of breast
cancer at the young age of 56 in 1994.
Needless to say, I was devastated when I lost
my little Britni, she was 15 yo and lived a full life.
I've had many dogs in my life, but losing Britni
felt like losing my mom again.
Some may not understand this, an
animal lover will understand...💔

This is my first attempt at a Finnabair style project
on canvas.   A few weeks prior to Britni passing, I was able to make it to one of Finnabair's classes when she came to NYC.
It was a lot of fun, doing her class and meeting her.

I began by using the hot glue gun to hold my embellies
in place.  I used some burlap, tissue paper, ribbon
TH Idea-ology, whatever I could find. The entire
canvas was covered with fiber gesso.

I positioned a photo I protected the photo
by using a piece of paper cut out the exact
size as the photo.   I was very careful not to let any
medium go underneath the covering.

I sprayed the canvas with Glimmer Mist.  I used a
large piece of cardboard and began misting the canvas
from right to left, spraying heavier where I
wanted it to be darker.

Burgundy wire was added prior to misting.

I coiled some red wire throughout the bottom area.

I will always miss my little girl
BRITNI...
