Burlap Anakin Memorial

Hello bloggers, I've been wanting to create this canvas for my loyal friend... Anakin.  I lost him in late February, a week later I lost my dad.  I've yet to mourn either.. and so it begins...

I began with a TH Burlap Canvas.  I used alot of Tim items as I usually do.
I was inspired by the Linda Ledbetter's Studio L3 Blog.  You will need to purchase Tim's latest book, Compendium of Curiosities III.  Order from him directly and you can get it autographed!   I was going to join in on the fun but I just couldn't get it going for a while.  Good luck to all the participants on this challenge.

I am a huge Star Wars fan for those of you who don't already know.  My Anakin was a Black Lab as you can see.  I also have a Princess Leia who is a white German Shepherd.  I also have a Maltese/Shih-tzu named Chase, he was a rescue and he's cute as heck but doesn't like children.  I need Cesar Millan!

I can't get enough of Tim's toys!

He answered to Big Boy and Ani.  He was such a good dog and almost made it to 15 1/2 which is rare for a large size dog.  He was covered with tumors all over his body.

It got to the point where I had to help him up and down with a sling, it kept throwing out my back.  Yes, .the family helped, but he always came to me since my studio leads to the backyard.  It was hard during the winter snow days.  I was there for him all the way..

He stared at me one day as I sat on the couch opposite of where he was and I tell you, he looked mad...  I knew it was time... he barely got up on his own.  That night I slept on the floor with him and cried most of the night.  I cooked him some chicken and rice and he ate it all up... I made alot too.  I took a Star Wars throw I had with me the next morning to see the vet.  I also took Leia, Chase would have been to much.  I sat on the floor with the blanket underneath me and layed him across my legs and said my final goodbye.
It is never easy...
Sorry for the downer... I have to move on...
I know... the Force is with him... Always.
Love you Ani...  My true loyal friend...
Mommy.

  1. Your canvas is a beautiful tribute to your best friend. I lost my baby Angel in May 2014. I still cry every day. Maybe your work will inspire me to make a tribute to her. It is so painful.....isn't it? I am glad you could make this awesome project and share it with all.
