IDCB - A Day for Daisies

At the
Inspiration Destination Challenge Blog
is always Anything Goes!
This week we're being sponsored by the beautiful images of
A Day for Daisies
The image I chose to use is
"Mother's Sweet Kiss"

When I saw this image at
A Day for Daisies
I knew right away that I wanted to use this image because it reminded me of a photo of my sister sleeping as a toddler against my mother's chest.  It brought back fond memories.

I used a 4x4 canvas that I prepped with gesso
and then acrylic paint, Turquoise.
I cut a few pieces of screen and painted them white.  The image was colored with my Copic Pens.
E0000, E00, E05, R00, R05, R20, R24, R29, R43, R83, RV93, Y0000, Y00, Y02, Y08, V000.
I traced the outline of the image onto a piece of vellum paper, this way its used as a mask whilst I color the background with Distress Ink, Spiced Marmalade.
I used the spritz & flick technique, dried it with the heat gun.  Then I used Tim Holtz's distresser tool and used it around the edges.  I wanted to create tears where I can use as a "peekaboo" by adding the white colored screen pieces.
I topped it off with a burgundy colored heart in memory of my mom who passed on 20 yrs ago to breast cancer.  In most of my artwork I try to use the burgundy color in her memory, it was her favorite color.
Thank you all for sharing your time here with me.
Hope you learned something and/or were inspired.
